Identify the AWS member accounts that drive ECS and Fargate spend for an organization or payer account so container cost efficiency can be assessed where the money actually sits. This plan collects Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate spend from Cost Explorer at payer scope, broken out by member account, Region, and usage type so Fargate vCPU-hours and GB-hours are separated from ECS on EC2-backed capacity, measures the spend trend across the analysis window, ranks accounts by share of total container spend, captures the per-account context that can be derived from billing data such as the dominant Regions and, where cluster or service dimensions are available through cost allocation tags, the dominant clusters, and produces a bounded top-account list with an explicit cutoff and a machine-readable context block for downstream per-account assessment. This plan is analysis-only: it reads cost and account metadata and never creates, resizes, stops, or deletes any cluster, service, or task.
Collect organization ECS and Fargate spend by account, Region, and usage type
Retrieves ECS and Fargate cost and usage at payer scope over the configured analysis window, split by member account, Region, and usage type so Fargate compute is distinguished from ECS on EC2-backed capacity and from ancillary charges.
Measure spend trend and rank accounts by share
Compares the analysis window against the preceding comparable period to establish direction of travel per account, then ranks accounts from highest to lowest share of organization container spend.
Capture per-account container context from billing data
Derives the context a downstream assessment can use, including the dominant Regions per account, the usage-type mix, and the dominant clusters or services when cost allocation tags or resource-level dimensions expose them, recording explicitly when they do not.
Produce the bounded top-account list with an explicit cutoff
Limits the accounts carried forward to those that meaningfully contribute to total container spend, states the cutoff used, and records the accounts excluded and why.
